Platform 20K has to its credit the unprecedented cardio screening in the history of Ukraine. The action was held from September 28 to November 21, 2015. Its goal was to provide the access to modern methods of electrocardiography and the benefits of early detection of cardiovascular pathologies to the residents of the most remote and inaccessible rural areas. To implement measures for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and to promote a healthy lifestyle in that regions.
The examination was conducted by 11 mobile teams of doctors (1 doctor and 1 nurse in each team) equipped with IV generation “Oracle" electrocardiographic systems, glucometers, blood pressure monitors, sufficient stock of medicines and other aids. In the case of diagnosed pathologies, recommendations for further recourse to the relevant specialists were given. In the case of detecting acute conditions patients were hospitalised or, if possible, emergency medical care was provided immediately.
The screening took place in accordance with international standards, in particular: Minnesota code, Selvester QRS Score, CIIS.
The primary action was designed to carry out cardio-diagnostics of 20,000 residents. In fact, during the 52 days of action the 22,433 patients in 565 localities were examined.
There is no doubt in the importance of such action because cardiovascular diseases are the cause of death No1 among Ukrainians. Every year, they take away the lives of more than 300k people, it’s like erasing from the map of our country one regional centre after another. Prevention, early detection, and treatment of cardiovascular pathologies can significantly affect the demographic situation of the entire state.
The analysis of the results shows what to improve in the public health system for the sake of social and economic development. That is a confident step toward healthy and happy future for all of us.
HRV (Heart Rate Variability) analysis is an established method of monitoring for various health parameters:
But in order to make accurate and, most importantly, lifestyle changing conclusions the measuring must be extremely precise and performed on a regular basis. Available ECG machines were either stationary or bulky, with a lot of wires, which made them totally unsuitable for everyday wear. That was limiting HRV analysis application to the clinical environment and its potential in full were accessible mostly for astronauts and pro-athletes.
Platform 20K lab developed world’s first one wrist ECG band that performs HRV analysis with the same accuracy as an electrocardiograph. The wristband is ISO / HL7 and HIPAA compliant. It measures >80 health parameters and helps you to get yourself into peak health state, both physical and mental.
At the core of Planexta wristband technology are the ECG sensors capable of operating with high precision on dry skin and in any usage conditions, as well as software to provide continuous monitoring of health state.
The data from wristband is transmitted to world’s first CardioCloud service, also developed by Platform 20K, that continuously monitor, record and analyse vital parameters. This service also can be used by any medical professional to analyse and store cardiovascular data from any internet-enabled cardiograph.
Technology developed by Platform 20K has the potential to tackle the #1 cause of death worldwide and save lives of 15 million people per annum. According to NHS CDC protocol, approved by the World Health Organisation, the early mitigation of cardiovascular risks is a major factor contributing to life extension (+5 years on average).
The Platform 20K approach is to develop technologies aimed to accelerate medical processes and facilitate access to health resources. This means a transition from periodical health checkups to permanent monitoring of conditions, body parameters, physical and emotional health state and other data relevant to the specific person.
The format of a wearable device makes possible to track the effectiveness of preventive measures. For example, the health effects of smoking cessation calculated as a reduction of cardiovascular risk.
Thanks to the CardioCloud software solution it is possible collect biodata: a history of the specific user and general data array. Its analysis instantly gives deep, meaningful insights into person’s health that are transformed into the Concept of Health Coaching. The person receives practical recommendations and guidance on what’s harmful to one’s health, how to avoid it and what to do to improve your health state and get into the best possible condition.
Giving people control over their health and its determinants is the key to wellbeing, productivity, and longevity. Continuous monitoring of health parameters enables people to actively participate in the management of their own health, modify behaviour and track what influence it has on their organisms.
Laboratory is conducting experimental and clinical studies of a new varicose treatment technology. Currently, the main methods of treatment of varicose veins are laser coagulation (EVLA) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA). They apply a thermal impact to the vein using laser or microwaves, so the vein becomes closed, then healed and eventually disappeared.
This new alternative method was developed basing on unique technology, invented at the Institute of Paton - the electric welding of living tissues.
Unlike its EVLA and RFA counterparts, electro-welding technology provides biofeedback during operation. And it’s extremely valuable for surgeons since they can monitor the intensity of their intervention. Endovenous Electric Welding greatly reduces operative and post-operative risks and provides 30% Therapeutic Index increase over both EVLA and RFA.
Efforts have been made to integrate academic health science and practice, physics, engineering design, and management thinking.
As a result, the path from the formulation of an idea to successful clinical use took less than six months.
